Jeff Noble today voted for landmark legislation to make state government more transparent under open records laws.Noble, of Plymouth, said the legislation makes the governor and lieutenant governor subject to the Freedom of Information Act and creates a similar disclosure requirement for state representatives and senators called the Legislative Open Records Act.“We passed this legislation during Sunshine Week, a time set aside to bring attention to government transparency,” Noble said. “People deserve to see how state government uses the taxpayer money they entrust to us, and this bill moves that effort forward.”The legislation is similar to a package of bills introduced last session and passed overwhelmingly by the House. The bills did not make it to the governor for signature. The House recently put a salary database of all House employees on its website to provide more accountability to taxpayers.#####last_img read more
