LocalNews Happy Independence Dominica! by: – November 3, 2014 Share Share Tweetcenter_img Share 483 Views   no discussions Dominica is today, November 3, 2014 celebrating thirty-six years of political independence from Britain.A National Parade of Military Troupes in which twenty citizens will be recognized for their outstanding contribution to the island’s development and an address to the nation from Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit at the national stadium from 8 o’clock this morning, are among activities to commemorate the occasion.The national parade will be broadcast live on Vibes Radio’s 99.5FM, 94.7FM and 93.9FM frequencies, via the internet on www.vibesradio.dm, on TuneIn Radio as well as on Marpin 2K4 Limited channels 92 and 98.In an earlier Independence message, Prime Minister Skerrit said that the celebration of the island’s national independence presents the opportunity “to highlight and showcase the many attributes that define our character as Dominicans”.Mr Skerrit added that it is an “occasion to recapture and project our folklore, our song, dance, music, dress, cuisine and many of the other traditions that make us unique”.Dominica obtained independence from Britain on November 3, 1978.Dominica Vibes Newslast_img read more
